2NE1 Featured in Forbes Magazine, '2NE1 and the Future of K-Pop'

On October 16, 2NE1 was featured in Forbes magazine.

The article starts by mentioning the success of their concert at The Prudential Center in New Jersey this past August.

"The group-CL, Bom, Minzy and Dara-proceeded to stomp across the stage as a crowd of 10,000-plus rapped and sang along with them in Korean."

2NE1 stopped by the Forbes headquarters in New York City to talk about the success K-pop has had around the world. CL started by saying, "I think Korea right now is really passionate about music. I mean, everybody is, but we're passionate about performing and we love music, so I think the world is feeling that right now, feeling the energy."

The article also mentions Psy's successful venture into the American music industry with his famous "Gangnam style." The article then goes on to mention how Kpop could be "the most commercially potent genre to emerge since hip-hop."

Since Kpop has been used as advertisement for various types of businesses in Korea, it has the potential to do the same in this part of the world.

The article also states that the main barrier K-pop has is the language.

"Without the bizarrely engaging video, it seems highly unlikely that a Korean-language song could have become a major hit in the U.S. And without the easy access offered by the web, it would have been nearly impossible to find a rap song from the other side of the globe."

The article finishes mentioning off by saying that 2NE1 has to make an English album, to which CL agrees with, "I want that to happen. I thought it would be much better if we could do it in English because then everyone could actually connect to the lyrics."
