Dead Island 2 PS4 Getting 30-Day Exclusive Beta; Spring 2015 Release Date Expected For Xbox One, PlayStation 4 And PC Versions

Aside from Dead Island 2's exclusive content for Sony's latest console, gamers can also expect that the game's beta version will be exclusively available first for the PS4 for 30 days.

Dead Island 2's release date for the PS4 as well as its Xbox One and PC versions is slated for Spring 2015. But before that, fans can expect the beta version of the upcoming action role-playing survival video game to come early.

However, game publisher, Deep Silver has not revealed yet when the 30-day beta period for Dead Island 2 will start for the PS4 version. But CrossMap.com pointed out that players will only qualify for the beta if they pre-ordered the spinoff game, Escape Dead Island, which was released way back in November. Those who have obtained their copy of Escape Dead Island will only need to enter the code that came with the purchase, come Dead Island 2 beta release. Those who qualify for the beta version will be notified two weeks ahead of the release and will get additional instructions as well.

To get updates about the game's development, IGN interviewed Jan Eric Lauble, Deep Silver creative producer. He mentioned that customization is one of the focuses of the game.

He shared, "The visceral melee combat and the crafting of weapons are areas where we drastically build upon as well. The updated combat system offers way more control and possibilities and the weapon categories offer more variety through different attack types. And new additional features such as the dual wield system provide creative new ways for the player to slaughter zombies. There's nothing better than fighting off hordes of zombies at the Hollywood Hills with an electrified Axe in one Hand and a fire dealing sawed-off shotgun in the other."

"The crafting system got improved a lot as well. Players are now able to craft and repair their weapons whenever and wherever they want to avoid annoying backtracking and the new modification system allows players to apply more than one mod to a weapon so they have more freedom when creating their personal zombie slayer."

Learn more about the upcoming Dead Island 2 from Lauble's interview, as posted on this IGN report.
