General Motors’ Chevy Volt For Sale After Low Gas Prices End? 2015 North American International Auto Show In Detroit [REVIEW]

General Motors unveiled the second-generation Chevrolet Volt car on Monday morning at the 2015 North American International Auto Show held in Detroit, promising an estimated 50 miles of electric range.

The first generation of the Chevy Volt had 30 percent less electric range.

Although the company revealed much information about the new car's specs, it did not disclose specific information about its pricetag.

"The trick is to find people who are willing to accept that more efficiency comes at a higher cost, but that more efficiency for its own sake is important," IHS Automotive senior analyst Stephanie Brinley said in a review of the car, according to the Detroit News.

Brinley said the company has to work hard to convince consumers that a hybrid car with as much electric range capabilities as the new Chevy Volt is more practical than a standard car, given recent drops in gas prices that have reached historic lows.

Could the car officially go on sale with a formal pricetag after the low gas prices end?

Nonetheless, many remain confident that the car debuted at the Detroit Auto Show will perform successfully in the auto market.

"The new Volt's design is all about windswept surfaces so everything flows together," said John Cafaro, executive director of Chevrolet global design, according to the Detroit Free Press.

"It's a theme captured from the flowing lines of the fenders into the hood, to the carved body sides which are aerodynamically tuned and aligned with Chevrolet performance DNA."
