The 3 Things Idol Actors Need

Idols are expanding their territories. Armed with good looks and huge fan bases, idols' moving into other territories seems incredibly natural. This year, many idols caught people's attention with their memorable performances.

miss A's Suzy started the year off. She became known as the public image of your 'first love' in "Architecture 101" back in March. ZE:A's Dong Jun appeared in "A Company Man," which opened on October 11th and JYJ's Jaejoong is in "Jackal is Coming" which will open very soon.

However, the impact is obviously not as big if they are simply appearing in these movies. They must be competitive among other movie actors/actresses if they want to remain in the industry. For that, there are 3 things that they need.

First, they need enough time to show their stable acting skills. One movie insider said, "You can't say whether an idol appearing in a movie is a good or a bad thing. But many times, they sometimes don't get enough time to show what they are really capable of, which is disappointing. They have to be given at least two or three chances but many people are quick to judge and say that they're lacking. I don't think that's the way we should do it."

Let's look at Suzy. She faced many acting criticisms with her debut project KBS "Dream High" but all of those criticisms went away when she appeared in "Architecture 101" and received many positive reviews. This means that for idols, whose main jobs aren't to act, you need to give them some time and see where they go.

Second of all, if idols want to act, they really need to have a passion for it. Many of them take acting lightly and it backfires on them. They need to take it incredibly seriously in order for people to respond and Park Jin Young, who appeared in "The 5 Million Dollar Man."

A crew member who saw JYP at work said that he was incredibly serious about learning the craft. He approached it like a young, new actor would and people responded very positively because he remained incredibly humble throughout the whole thing.

Thirdly, they need a partner who is experienced and can guide them through their first experiences.

So Ji Sub was that person for Dong Jun, who even carried certain pieces of advice from So Ji Sub in his wallet. Dong Jun received positive reviews as a result. So Ji Sub said, "Even though he's young, I could see something really manly in him and very mature. If he gets more experience, I think he'll get better."
