Rush To Celebrate 40th Anniversary As A Band With 34-City North American Tour Starting In May [VIDEO]

Canadian prog-rock trio Rush will hit 34 cities on their North America Tour 2015. Tickets are going on sale starting Jan. 30 at LiveNation.com.

Rush is celebrating 40 years as a band this year. The Canadian trio, which was ushered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year by Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, and Live Nation confirmed today that the RUSH: R40 LIVE TOUR will visit 34 cities throughout North America this summer.

The Rush North American Tour 2015 starts in Tulsa, Okla., on May 8., It ends in Los Angeles on Aug. 1.

Over the past four decades, Rush has grown into an influential force in rock. Rush recently made their first television appearance in over 30 years on Comedy Central's The Colbert Report. They band made a memorable cameo in the film I Love You, Man. South Park did a Rush Tribute,

"Rush built their following the right way. No hype, no bullshit, they did it from the ground up. Their legacy is incredible and their influence undeniable," according to the Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, when he inducted them into the into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Rush has released 20 gold and platinum studio albums since they debuted with their 1974 self-titled album.  in their forty years together. This will be the band's 21st tour. Rush says it may very well be their last major tour.

In 1976, they released "2112," in 1981, Rush painted "Moving Pictures," in 1996 they released "Test For Echo and in 2002 they put out Vapor Trails. Rush released their 20th studio album Clockwork Angels in 2012, via Anthem/Roadrunner Records.

Clockwork Angels was Rush's first studio recording since 2007's Snakes & Arrows. The album debuted at number 1 in Canada and Number 2 on the Billboard 200, matching the highest chart debut of the band's career.

Rush is known for their energetic live shows. The band's latest release was the R40 collector's boxset, which included live footage from their forty year career. The album includes more than two hours of unreleased material and a rare performance of the seven-part version of "2112." The album was  packaged in a 52-page hardcover book.

Rush won eight Juno Awards and was nominated for seven Grammy awards, including one for the documentary "Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage," which also won the Tribeca Film Festival's  Audience Award.

Rush was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1994, made Officers of the Order of Canada in 1996 and inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010. They have received a star on both Canada's Walk of Fame (1999) and the Hollywood Walk of Fame (2010). In 2012, Rush were bestowed with the highest artistic honor in Canada when receiving the Governor General's Performing Arts Award.
