Real Madrid Brings In Revenue Of $639 Million, Takes Spot Of World's Richest Football Club For 10th Year In A Row [PHOTO]

Real Madrid has taken the spot of the world's richest football club for the 10th year in a row now. According to CNN, the annual Football Money League published by accountants Deloitte estimates their revenue at $639 million.

The Money League has been running for 18 years now, making Real Madrid's decade-long dominance even more impressive. Other teams that have done well are Manchester United, which catapulted past both Barcelona ($563.5 million) and Bayern Munich ($566.8 million) to move into second place with revenues of $602.3 million. This represents a hike in revenue of $110 million.

BBC reports that Paris Saint-Germain filled the next spot, and English clubs Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool were placed sixth to ninth.

Dan Jones, partner in the Sports Business Group at Deloitte, stated, "Winning the Champions League for an unprecedented 10th time and staying at the top of the Money League made 2013-14 the year of the 'Doble Décima' for Real Madrid."

He continued, "The club's continued success on the field is complemented by its financial strength, and their accomplishment emphasizes their position as the most successful European club side of all time. However, their commercial supremacy is being challenged by Manchester United, among others."

And just how are these teams doing so well financially? Jones added, "Commercial and broadcast revenues are now more important than ever to clubs to enable them to compete financially and put the best talent on the pitch...This has led to further dominance from the 'big five' European leagues - England, Germany, Spain, Italy and France - this year, with just Turkey's Galatasaray making it in from outside of those countries."

This means that there will soon be even larger competition for Real Madrid. According to ESPN FC, Jones thinks that the top 30 richest clubs will soon be showing a stronger English presence.

He commented, "It is with great anticipation that we wait to see what the new round of Premier League broadcast deals, expected to be agreed in 2015, will yield. With the market expectation that another significant increase will occur, it is likely that the money league will have a strongly English appearance in the coming years."
