Angelina Jolie And Kids Meet Pope Francis In Vatican! 'Unbroken' Director Shows Off Her Film At The Pontifical Academy For Sciences

Angelina Jolie and her two kids, Shiloh and Zahara together with Louis Zamperini's son, Luke visited Pope Francis at the Vatican one week before the well-loved pontiff came to visit the typhoon stricken country, Philippines.

According to the Associated Press via Variety, the Hollywood superstar came to visit the Vatican to attend a special screening of her directorial movie, "Unbroken" at the Pontifical Academy for Sciences.

The meeting was reportedly arranged by the Pope's friend, Monsignor Marcelo Sanchez Sorondo, Argentine head of the pontifical academy.

The screening, which was dedicated for the Vatican prelates, was not however attended by Pope Francis, but Angelina Jolie and her kids reportedly made sure that they'd be able to meet the head of the Roman Catholic Church.

"Pope Francis, aware of the incredible life story of Louis Zamperini, graciously welcomed the opportunity to view the film and is expected to attend the screening at the Casina Pio IV, headquarters of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences," Universal Pictures Italia said in a statement.

The Vatican spokesman, Rev. Federico Lombardi, praised "Unbroken," a film based on the struggles of U.S. Olympic runner turned Air Force bombardier Louis Zamperini during the WWII.

The Catholic Church's high priest said that the movie showed "positive human and spiritual values, in particular forgiveness."

In a report by Us Magazine, the Hollywood superstar couple, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie reportedly "admire the Pope" and "like the Pope's message."

Angelina Jolie reportedly said that it was "an honor" to be "invited with my film to the Vatican" as released by Universal Pictures.

While, Angelina Jolie and kids' meeting with Pope Francis was held in the famous "Throne Room" where the pontiff usually receives his guests, who are normally heads of state, it has been reported that the meeting was not a formal event.

However, Pope Francis reportedly made sure that although the meeting lasted for a several minutes, he paid attention to his Hollywood visitors and even gave the kids Vatican souvenirs.

"It all lasted just a few minutes, even though it was naturally very significant for those present," Lombardi explained.

"Unbroken" is set to be released in Italy on Jan. 29.
