Microsoft has recently announced that users of Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 can upgrade to Windows 10 for free.

"We will offer a free upgrade to Windows 10 for qualified new or existing Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices that upgrade in the first year." Microsoft wrote on its official web site.

"And even better: once a qualified Windows device is upgraded to Windows 10, we will continue to keep it up to date for the supported lifetime of the device, keeping it more secure, and introducing new features and functionality over time - for no additional charge," the company added.

The users of Windows 7 and 8.1 who can avail the Windows 10 free upgrade will be able to explore the new features that the company will be offering on it's latest OS.

One of the features coming to Windows 10 is Cortana, Microsoft's personal digital assistant is coming to PC and tablet as well. The new feature allows you to finish your work faster.

Also a new web experience for Windows 10 has been revealed by Microsoft in its Blog. "Advanced features include the ability to annotate by keyboard or pen directly on the webpage and easily share with friends, a reading view that is distraction free, displaying the article in a simplified layout for a great reading experience for Web articles online and offline, and the integration of Cortana for finding and doing things online faster.

Furthermore, users of Windows 7 and 8.1 who can have the Windows 10 free upgrade will experience the new version of World, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Outlook. The Office desktop, however, is still in the development process.

The latest Windows 10 will also feature Continuum, Xbox integration, DirectX 12 and Windows Holographic.

As for the release date, PC Pro said that the company has not yet released any information about it, but they believe it might be in October 22 based on the previous Windows releases.
