Sam Smith Throws Shade At Ex Boyfriend In Grammy Awards 2015 Acceptance Speech For Record Of The Year

Sam Smith felt no shame when he won his fourth Grammy Award Sunday night. He threw some shade at his ex boyfriend in his acceptance speech for record of the year award.

"I want to thank the man this record is about... for breaking my heart because you got me four Grammys," Sam Smith said in his acceptance speech.

The crooner won the Grammy Award for record of the year, for his song "Stay With Me."

Unfortunately for Sam - but perhaps fortunately for fans who love his heart-breaking ballads - that inspiration hasn't come to an end: Sam Smith recently confirmed that his two month romance with boyfriend Jonathan Zeizel is over.

The 22-year-old singer revealed that he and boyfriend Jonathan Zeizel were over after two months of dating, during a concert in Toronto on Tuesday night before he performed "Like I Can," another one of Smith's songs about a break up.

"This song is very special for me today, as I've actually had to do a very similar thing with someone I've been seeing," he said.

Many people on Twitter were saying his gratefulness for his ex boyfriend giving him a broken heart to inspire his songs reminded them of Adele, who also confessed during an acceptance speech that it was break ups that fueled her heartache.
