Tiger Woods News: Golfing Great Takes A Break From Golf To Step Away From The Public Eye As He Needs To Get His Game In Shape!

Looks like a bad news for Tiger Woods as he might miss major golf tournaments due to injuries.

Tiger Woods announced Wednesday. Feb. 11 he needed to step away from the spotlight to work on his game. According to reports from CBSSports.com, Woods was going to make an even bigger announcement on Feb. 11 as he simply wrote on his website that he is considering not playing the Honda Classic and will only return to action once his gets his game in shape.

"Right now, I need a lot of work on my game, and to still spend time with the people that are important to me," Woods said. "My play, and scores, are not acceptable for tournament golf."

Woods added, "I'd like to play The Honda Classic -- it's a tournament in my hometown and it's important to me -- but I won't be there unless my game is tournament-ready. That's not fair to anyone. I do, however, expect to be playing again very soon."

So how soon is very soon? Judging by what Woods said, It looks like it would be later rather than sooner.

"Like I've said, I enter a tournament to compete at the highest level, and when I think I'm ready, I'll be back," he said. "I am committed to getting back to the pinnacle of my game."

According to reports form FoxSports Woods did not go into details in his statement about "this latest injury". Woods had a microdiscectomy last March and was still struggling when he tried to play at the PGA Championship in August. Although Woods is back to the sidelines, he pronounced himself as fit and ready for tournaments in Scottsdale, Arizona, and San Diego.

Post withdrawing at the Farmers, Woods indicated that it was a back issue, however he said in his statement, "my glutes are shutting off ... I tried to activate my glutes as best I could, but just they never stayed activated," ignited widespread ridicule.

FOXSports reports that no one seemed to know what Woods was talking about and neither his statement Wednesday help clear things up.

"The last two weeks have been very disappointing to me, especially Torrey, because I never want to withdraw. Unfortunately, lately injuries have made that happen too often," Woods said. "This latest injury is not related to my previous surgery. I am having daily physical therapy and I am feeling better every day."

If Woods were to skip the Honda, he would not be eligible for the following week's World Golf Championships Cadillac Championship.

Irrespective of wherever this story leads, this is not the Tiger Woods whom his fiercest competitors have been facing for 18 years. One of his competitors, Ernie Els, could only shake his head Wednesday at Pebble Beach, where he's entered into the At&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

Els said, "as competitive as we are, we don't want to see anyone suffer like (this)," he added, "If you miss a putt or if you miss a tee shot, that's part of the game. But you don't want to see one of the best players ever go through a period like this. It's tough to watch."
