Big Bang, WINNER, And iKON, Oh My! YG Entertainment Boy Bands Reveal Spring-Summer Release Schedule

Shortly after revealing Big Bang will make their long-awaited comeback in April, YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk announced a release schedule for the label's other boy bands, WINNER and iKON.

News that YG Entertainment's popular group Big Bang will be releasing a new album this spring caused a lot of chatter among fans when it was announced late last week, but now the excitement continues as the company has revealed that all three of their boy bands will drop new music within weeks of each other.

“Big Bang’s comeback is currently planned to be released sometime in April," Yang reaffirmed to TV Report on February 15. "For now we are planning on April at the latest and we will make their comeback sooner if possible, but there definitely will not be a need to postpone it."

The five-member group's return is a top priority for the company, explained Yang. “Big Bang has not released an album for the last three years. Big Bang’s fans have been waiting longer than anybody else," he said. "This is what I feel most apologetic for to their fans."

But the excitement won't stop there. Following Big Bang's return, another YG boy band, WINNER, plans to release a new album, followed by the highly anticipated debut of the company's newest group, iKON.

“Following Big Bang’s comeback are their juniors waiting in line," announced Yang. "All three teams will be coming out in one month intervals."

"I guess you can think of it as the older brothers kicking off first before their younger brothers,” he said.

As for what is in store for April - the CEO has high hopes. "The [Big Bang] members are all currently working really hard, but when you listen to their new music, it’s really thrilling and heart-pounding. Their new music almost gives the same exciting feeling as if you were to meet someone you haven’t met in a really long time."

A YG Entertainment spokesperson also revealed last week that the members of the Big Bang and iKON, as well as Yang himself, will be staying behind in the studio to work during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday. “Until they finish up their albums, they won’t take a break," the rep is reported to have said.

Big Bang's last release was the 2012 album Alive. WINNER released their debut album 2014 S/S in August of last year.
