'Chappie' Movie Cast Member Brandon Auret Disses Die Antwoord; Says 'I Don't Care Much For Him'; Movie Inspiration Revealed By Director!

One of the latest movies to hit the screens is "Chappie," that tells the life of a beat up robot brought back to life by the story's main protagonist.

The movie's cast members include Hugh Jackman as Vincent, Sharlto Copley as Chappie, Sigourney Weaver, Dev Patel as Deon, and Yo-Landi Visser, and Ninja as themselves. It is produced under Sony Pictures and is directed by Neil Blomkamp.

One of the cast members also include Brandon Auret, who recently went on an interview with News24, and has revealed that he doesn't like working with Die Antwoord in the film at all.

"I don't car much for him, I don't care much for his band, I don't care much for anything that he does," the actor said. "When somebody comes and feels that they have the right to tell you how to do your job, when they have no right to talk to me about acting."

Auret added that he is still thankful for the tension between him and Die Antwoord, as it helped him as an actor.

Die Antwoord is composed of both Ninja and Yo-Landi Visser, and while they are more known for their music, director Neil Blomkamp still decided to get the two as cast members in his movie.

As to Blomkamp's inspiration for the film, he expressed during an interview with Anime News Network that he has always been fascinated with robots, and the thought about translating that fascination into a film seemed natural. This aesthetic is evident with his other films, "Disctrict 9" and "Elysium."

He sighted the anime manga "Appleseed" as his inspiration for the film.

"Masamune Shirow, he has one robot called Briareos that has these rabbit ears. I just love that as a design feature, so I put that on the robot in short... when I made 'Chappie,' I was like, 'obviously, the robot will be based on that robot, and the fictional company that made that robot will make the fictional robots in the full feature film," the Director said.
