Sunderland AFC football star Adam Johnson was released on bail on Monday after being arrested for an alleged under-age sex scandal with a 15-year-old girl. 

Reports also claim that a gun was found at his home when the Police searched his residence, but the weapon is understood to be owned legally by him, EuroSport reports. 

"Sunderland AFC has confirmed that Adam Johnson has been suspended from the club, pending the outcome of a police investigation. No further comment will be made at the present time," his English Premier League team said in a statement, according to the site. 

Adam Johnson, 27, was later suspended by his club. His suspension is said to be upheld until a thorough police investigation has been completed. 

The Sunderland star also played for the English national team and made his last appearance with the team in August 2012. 

Adam Johnson has not commented on the matter.
