With a worldwide gross of $521 million worldwide and winning the 2015 Best Animated Feature Oscar, the future is bright for the 'Big Hero 6' film franchise as a sequel is already in development. 

According to screenrant, Big Hero 6 directors Don Hall and Chris Williams are saying that they haven't begun a conversation about a potential sequel. But in an interview with Creative Screenwriting, Hall hinted that a 'Big Hero 6' sequel is in development:

"[Laughs] We'll see," Hall teases. "We just finished this one, and the truth is, we're exhausted from the ordeal of making it. It was really fun, but it was long hours, and it was pretty intense. It's a pretty emotional time for us. These are characters that we've grown to know very well, now it's time to let go of them, and they're going into the world without us. We're in the middle of that phase. So we haven't talked about or thought about any sequels or anything like that. Having said that, of course, we love these characters, and the thought of working with them again some day definitely has its appeal."

Hall added that the Disney CCO John Lasseter is very supportive of his directors:

"[Walt Disney Animation Studios' Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter's] very supportive of the directors, and he won't force them to put out a sequel unless they have a story that really excited about. It has to feel like a story that really has to be told, or deserves to be told. It can't just be cashing in on the success of a previous film."

According to "Big Hero 6" sequel ideas, one of the rumors surfacing online is that a "Big Hero 6" sequel will be tied up with the "The Incredibles". The sequel will be called "Big Hero 6: The Incredible Battle" will be an animated crossover film between Big Hero 6 and The Incredibles with Brad Bird taking over as director with the cast of The Incredibles returning as their characters from Bird's film along with Max Charles, Kris Kristofferson and, Elton John joining the cast.
