‘The Last Of Us 2’ PS4 Release Date Expected In 2017 Or 2018! Neil Druckmann Reveals Plans For Upcoming Game

"The Last Of Us 2" is rumored to have a release date in 2017 or 2018 after game creator Neil Druckmann confirmed a sequel to the post apocalyptic gaming title.

Druckmann and the rest of his Naughty Dog crew, however, have their focus locked in for "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" for now. They confirmed that progress for "TLOU 2" would start after they release the Nathan Drake game.

In a report by Game Spot, game director Bruce Straley said that they would put "The Last Of Us 2" talks "on ice" for now while they focus on the upcoming game.

Although it is not their priority for now, developers claimed that discussions regarding the survival game have already been done and that they would definitely consider it in the future.

"We're 110 percent in Uncharted 4 territory now," Straley said. "Blinders on, make this awesome."

"We totally get it, because we have those same feelings as well. We have brainstormed sequel ideas for The Last of Us, and we've brainstormed ideas for new games, but all of that is put on ice right now while we work on Uncharted 4."

With regard to the game plot, Druckmann claimed that a possibility of Joel and Ellie being back to be the main characters in "The Last Of Us 2" come its release date has a "50-50" chance. He claimed that leaving the first part with the given ending has been perfect for the series and considering a reboot instead is a possibility.

"I'd probably reconsider the story at that point. They are Joel and Ellie to me," he said. "No one should be that smart, talented, and attractive. It's sick really."

"We have such limited resources, and it's a question of where you put the resources," the director said in an interview. "It's something where we can have a feel of where the demand is, and where our time is best spent. It's something that we'll figure out as we move forward."
