While most fast-food lovers wouldn't necessarily think of Taco Bell when it comes to breakfast, the company is trying to persuade consumers that the tyranny of McDonald's Egg McMuffins is over, with the rolling out of Taco Bell's new biscuit tacos. A recently-released ad titled "Routine Republic" sends the message in a strong, Stalin-esque way - watch the video below.

While Taco Bell's new ad "Routine Republic" doesn't exactly label the dystopian breakfast regime as "McDonald's," the "same breakfast" sandwiches represent the Egg McMuffin and the evil clowns are Ronald McDonalds - just scarier and more despotic.

"It's another perfect morning in the Routine Republic, where happiness is eating the same breakfast," a woman's voice says pleasantly in the ad, alluding to McDonald's catchphrase.

"Breakfast is a sea of sameness," said Taco Bell's marketing chief, Chris Brandt. "Everyone has the same, boring breakfast sandwich."

The ad hating on McDonald's Egg McMuffins comes just as Taco Bell begins to roll out its own breakfast sandwich: the Biscuit Taco (essentially a breakfast biscuit shaped like a taco). The biscuit taco rolls out nationally March 26.

"Consumers tell me they don't even have time to make cereal," said Taco Bell's new CEO, Brian Niccol. "We look at breakfast among the fastest-growing day-parts in fast food."

According to USA Today, Taco Bell hopes its breakfast will soon account for up to 20 percent of its business. It currently accounts for just 6 percent of the chain's sales.

"We have to train people that we're now open for breakfast," Niccol said.

According to Nicol, 8 out of 10 Taco Bell customers go out for a fast-food breakfast at least once a week.

The $2.49 Biscuit Taco is a flaky biscuit made with butter and buttermilk and served warm. Egg, cheese and a choice of sausage or bacon are tucked inside. The Biscuit Taco is also available with crispy chicken and jalapeño honey or country gravy.
