Cars Releasing In 2015: The 2016 Hyundai Tucson Boasts Improved Fuel Economy

Last week, Hyundai turned heads at the 2015 New York Auto Show by parting the curtains on their all new Tucson.

The base Tucson model carries a two liter direct injection engine that produces 164 horsepower, coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission. A turbocharged 1.6 liter four-cylinder engine capable of 175 horsepower will also be available. It will be attached to a new seven-speed automatic transmission. The new model will have front wheel drive as a standard and all wheel drive as an option.

Hyundai boasts that the latest Tucson will average 29 miles per gallon with the front wheel drive version.

The optional all wheel drive will use a system that electronically locks the system's center differential, making sure that torque is equally allocated on all four wheels when driving in snow or mud. Moreover, they added a corner braking system that applies a small amount of brake pressure on the inside of the wheels when turning.

LED headlamps and running lights appear on the front. As an option, Hyundai offers a new feature called Dynamic Bending Lights, which turns the headlights into a corner relative to the steering angle.

Safety features include a collision prevention system that automatically applies brakes to the tyres when an imminent crash is detected. A blind spot assist, lane change warning and back up camera will also be available.

Interior electronics include Hyundai's Blulink telematics system, a feature that offers emergency assistance when a collision is detected and recovery of a stolen vehicle. Naturally, owners can pair their smartphone or smartwatch to remotely connect with the car. To ease navigation, the Tucson has integrated the Yelp app and Google local search into the system.

Europe will receive five engines (two gasoline and three diesels). North America, however, will only only be offered two engines (2.0 liter and 2.4 liter gasoline).

Pricing is expected to be announced in the following days.
