Final Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Drop: $899 And $1,149 For 128GB And 256GB Devices

The final Microsoft Surface Pro 3 price drop has been announced: the devices 128GB and 256GB versions can be purchased for $899 and $1,149 respectively. Their original prices were $999 and $1,299.

The tablet is going on sale in the United States beginning on May 5 and the device's price will also be dropped internationally beginning on May 7.

Consumers have already begun buzzing about its rumored successor, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is rumored to have an October release date and will feature Windows 10 as its primary operating system, The Inquisitr reports.

Although the upcoming tablet device was slated for a July release, Microsoft is now said to delay its launch in order to coincide with the release of its new operating system.

"The Surface Pro 3 is selling just as well as it did when it first came out. Even though people expected a June or July release for the Pro 4, it probably won't happen until Windows 10 is released. That way, Microsoft could capitalize on both Windows 10 and the new Surface Pro at the same time," industry analyst Paul Mueller told the site.

Release date rumors surrounding the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 have also suggested that the device may be released alongside Apple's iPad Pro, which has already begun to accumulate attention.

Although Apple has not confirmed plans for developing the iPad Pro, which is rumored to feature a 12.9-inch screen, new information reveals development may already be on its way.

"Investment to produce 30,000 sheets next year's second quarter have started. Apple is creating iPads with 12.9-inch display, which shows they are increasing the panel size," a source told the South Korean news site ETNews.
