Mayweather Vs Pacquiao 2015: Kenny Bayless Confirmed As Referee; Judges Also Announced!

The much-awaited superfight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao is only more than a week away, and at this point, the official referee and the pool of judges have already been determined.

According to CNN, Kenny Bayless has officially been named as the referee for the mega-bout set to happen on May two at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Bayless' track record as an official referee during boxing matches has been considered to be one that is not to be taken lightly. He has officiated more than 100 matches and has been described by fans to be the best referee there is, which is why most of them agree on the decision made.

One person that agrees is Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach. According to the source cited above, he also considers Bayless to be "the best referee out there."

Given his track record, Kenny is not new in the Mayweather Pacquiao slates, as he has been the referee for seven of Manny's past fights, and five of Floyd's.

"Kenny knows the pressure, stress and responsibility," said Robert Bennett, executive director for the Nevada State Athletic Commission. "He's efficient and effective, and has proven to be successful over a number of years working in Las Vegas and other parts of the world. He's one of the best referees in the world."

The 64-year-old has also expressed his excitement with the bout via numerous interviews.

Aside from the referee, the judges for the much-anticipated fight has been announced officialy as well. According to the NSAC, there will be three judges all hailing from America, namely, Glenn Feldman, who is from Connecticut, Dave Moretti and Burt Clements. Both Moretti and Clements come from Nevada.

After the announcement of both the referee and judges, fans have been issuing positive responses, agreeing with the commission's decision. "I think we have the best judges, and Kenny Bayless is the best referee out there," said Freddie Roach. "I think he's going to give us a fair fight."

As previously reported, the Mayweather Vs Pacquiao fight was announced officially last February, after having been anticipated for years. Pacquiao's camp has allegedly been pushing for the fight for the longest time, but experience numerous roadblocks due to Mayweather's conditions. Mayweather denies this and says that his camp has been the one trying to push for the fight and that it is Manny's camp that hits them with every roadblock.
