Pacquiao Vs Mayweather Tickets Still Not On Sale; Fight Apparently One Big Hoax?

The much-awaited fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather has been making headlines since it was announced last february.

While pay-per-views are already booked, and sports bars all over the world already promoting the fight, Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum has not been doing so. As reported by Rappler, Top Rank Promotions has yet to release any material for the bout. This is allegedly because of the report that Arum has not yet signed the latest draft of the fight's official contract.

According to ESPN, the draft was sent to Arum last Apr. 15. Arum said that it contained a different deal, one that Pacquiao's camp did not agree to.

"We agreed that we would all be signatories on the final contract and then they sent us a draft of the agreement and it excluded us," said Arum.

"They don't want us to have any say," he added. "So whether they came up with the deal between Mayweather and MGM before or after our agreement, they've committed fraud either way. That's what we're enmeshed in."

Not being included as a signatory on the contract basically means that Top Rank will not have any say in the fight, including what music Manny will march in with, and other productions to be held in the arena during the time of the event.

In response to Arum's claims, Leonard Ellerbe, who is the CEO for Mayweather Promotions said that the promoter is the one who's responsible for the hold up. "Bob wants to be the focal point of everything and create controversy that doesn't exist," he said.

Because of this, ticket sales have not been put up yet, despite the fact that it is only about a week away before the scheduled fight.

Some fans are speculating as to whether the whole fight was even meant to push through. They say that the absence of tickets this close to the schedule only leads to the event not happening, perhaps being postponed to a later date, or not happening at all. Some also claim that there is a possiblity that the whole "agreement" was just a hoax, and was put out as a strategy to earn extra income from the side promotions done.

The Pacquiao Mayweather fight has been previously announced to happen on May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The arena has a capacity of 16,800 seats and tickets are expected to sell out once sales open.
