Bill Simmons Quits ESPN; What's Next For The Sports Writer? Fans Air Sentiments!

Bill Simmons has been known in the sports media as a respectable writer, covering numerous sports events and people with truth and utmost honesty, according to fans.

Having been in the industry for 15 years, his announced departure from one of the biggest sports name, ESPN, has left numerous fans disappointed and sad. To them, Simmons was the person to have started the internet sports writing movement and was the first person to convince the public that regardless of whether one is trained or not, anyone can be considered to have a voice in the sports industry and his or her opinion about sports is very much legitimate no matter what.

Fans took to their social media accounts, numerous online threads and comment sections of news page articles to air out their sentiments about Simmons' departure. Some say that he probably should not have veered into a more comedic style of writing during his latter years as a sports writer.

"Bill has done more good than bad but the point a few years ago when he decided to let himself be pushed on screen more was probably a really bad decision," wrote user "echech88" in the comments section of an NBC sports news article about the topic. "Writing funny and executing funny in front of an audience are two different things that require different skills," the user added.

"Off the top of my head he seems to be the only quality person left on ESPN and now that'll soon change," wrote another user named "rollinghighwayblues." "ESPN has slowly evolved into absolute garbage. I hope Simmons blows his next gig out of the water."

As to how Simmons is planning to move on with his career, we have yet to find out, but fans are cheering him on as they said that whatever he pursues next in sports, will surely be great.
