A family has been reported to have been smoking on a flight flying out of Halifax, Nova Scotia to the Dominican Republic stars.

The father, mother and son refused to stop smoking on board causing the flight to be diverted to Bermuda according to Associated Press. They were verbally abusive, rather than complying to the flight attendants and crew.

According to the witnesses, the family became hostile after being caught smoking in the plane's lavatory.

The three were arrested upon landing in Bermuda; they were later released on bail according to the Bermuda Police Service.
