"You may be experiencing issues related to launching games, applications, and/or social features such as trophies, messaging, or friends list. We appreciate your patience while we address this," the log in page would show.

After this, numerous fans took to online threads to express their problem with network and to check if other users are experiencing the same thing, the answer of which is yes.

The source cited above wrote that the official twitter page of Sony's customer service tweeted about the issue. "We appreciate your patience as we continue working to resolve the PSN issues," it read.

As to why the network went down in the first place, users are assuming that it started with a glitch probably caused by a virus that was put in there by a hacker. Sony has yet to publish a statement explaining why the PlayStation Network was down in the first place.
