Nepal Earthquake 2015: Susan Sarandon, Rocky Horror Picture Show Star, Calls For Tourist To Visit Nepal In Aftermath of Earthquake

Nepal Earthquake 2015:  Susan Sarandon, "Rocky Horror Picture Show's" Janet Weiss, want  tourists to visit Nepal in the wake of the April 25 earthquake, Sarandon is in Nepal urging tourists to visit the Himalayan nation where two earthquakes killed thousands of people and left several hundreds of thousands homeless.

The Oscar-winning actress is helping go voice concerns that the Nepal's tourism industry could be further hurt after the devastating quake. Susan Sarandon ix inaugurating a campaign to build 201 huts for villagers outside of the capital, Kathmandu.

Sarandon is staying with the famed Kung-fu nuns in a Buddhist monastery.

"It is important to emphasize that by the fall, when monsoon ends, people should make their reservations now if they want to help and they want to come and visit because it is very, very important to keep all these jobs alive," Sarandon said Sunday in a statement.

"I think that would be the next wave - to think of Nepal not as an ongoing disaster, but as a country that has found its way back and has many monuments that haven't fallen and many beautiful areas that can be still safe to trek," she added.

Sarandon said people should make reservations after the rainy season ends in September.

The country of Nepal boasts eight of the world's highest mountains.

The country was hit with a magnitude-7.8 earthquake on April 25. The quake killed at least 8,490 people. It was followed by a magnitude-7.3 earthquake on May 12. The second earthquake killed 158 people and left nearly 17,000 people injured.
