Wild Animals Look In The Mirror And Get Very Confused [VIDEO]

There are countless videos of dogs, cats and various house pets jumping at their reflection in the mirror, but there has yet to be a video showing wild animals experiencing the same.

French photographer Xavier Hubert Brierre travelled to Gabon with his wife and set up a mirror in several locations in order to capture animals walking by, but got a very different reaction instead, according to the description in the YouTube clip.

The animals couldn’t just walk by when they saw their reflections. Many actually chose to linger.

“You can tell which animals are self aware and know its their reflection, which were the chimps and the elephant,” commented YouTube user Theo_98.

“They looked at the mirror and saw that it was them (then realized they could check themselves out), the gorilla thought it was another gorilla, the hawk that nothing was there, and the cats to play or fight itself.”

The most hilarious moment during the two minute clip would have to be when the monkeys sit in a line in front of the mirror, each one looking at their reflection.

The video has garnered more than 66,000 views and over 1,000 likes only a day after being uploaded. The clip continues to fascinate viewers all around.

“I’m pretty sure I could watch hours and hours of this kind of footage. So fascinating!,” commented YouTube user NewToneProducer.

Fellow social media user Pablo Zamora simply wrote, “This is awesome.”
