Investigation Ongoing After New "Fifty Shades" Book Copy Got Stolen, Leak Before "Grey" Set To Come Out?

It's still a week to go before the new "Fifty Shades" book "Grey" hits bookstores but various news outlets online reported that the book may be leaked online or to the media ahead of the release after it was stolen from a Random House office in the U.K.

An investigation has been launched following the reported lost new "Fifty Shades" book as reported by BBC.

"Officers are making inquiries after receiving a report that a book had been stolen on 8 June," a Kent Police spokesman told BBC.

Random House has confirmed that a copy of the new "Fifty Shades" book is indeed missing but refused to give further account about how it happened.

"We can confirm that the Kent police are investigating the theft of a finished copy of E.L. James' new book," a spokesman from Random House told People.

The Kent Police is also wary about going into the details of their investigation about the missing new "Fifty Shades" book, according to a report on People.

"We cannot go into further details as it may form part of the investigation," said the police spokesman. "It could have been in a warehouse, or traveling to a warehouse or from a warehouse. So we need establish where the theft occurred."

Author E.L. James only announced that the new "Fifty Shades" book was underway just a week ago as mentioned by USA Today. Even her publisher shared that James kept the book writing and production a secret in order to surprise fans. The surprise is seemingly in danger now after the new "Fifty Shades" book has gone missing.

But that's not the only ordeal that new "Fifty Shades of Grey" book may be facing ahead of its release. Just like the first three books and the movie before the spin-off, the National Center for Sexual Exploitation has slammed the book, according to a report on The Hollywood Reporter. The center said the new "Fifty Shades" book is "an irresponsible rationalization of domestic abuse."

There is no word yet on how this will affect the book's release. When the "Fifty Shades" movie came out in February, the center asked the public to boycott it.

The new "Fifty Shades" book is retell of the love story and BDSM journey of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele but this time presented from the point of view of Christian Grey. It expected to hit bookstore on June 18 - Grey's birthday.
