Sony Electronics Music Stations Come To Best But Magnolia Design Centers; Sony Launches High-Resolution Music Stations Nationwide

Sony Electronics will launch Hi-Res Music Stations in more than 70 of Best Buy's Magnolia Design Centers nationwide this fall.

"We're delighted to assist Magnolia Design Center in its efforts to provide a higher quality listening experience for their customers," Mike Fasulo, president of Sony Electronics, said in a statement.

"Thanks to this program, music enthusiasts will finally get the opportunity to hear their favorite recordings digitally, just like the artist intended."

Stations provide the industry-first high-res audio experience in cooperation with all three major music companies

"People come to Best Buy's Magnolia Design Center for the absolute best in audio and the addition of Hi-Res Music Stations means customers can now experience the new wave of audio technology at more than 70 Magnolia Design Centers," said Mike Crane, director of audio for Magnolia Design Centers.

Customers will experience high-resolution music on a number of Sony audio products that meet nearly every lifestyle need, including Walkman portable players, headphone amplifiers and music servers.

Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, and Warner Music Group support the program and the display will promote a variety of high-res recordings that are available via participating digital music providers.

"We're thrilled more music fans than ever will be able to experience our growing catalog of hi-res music at the largest electronics retailer in the U.S.," Jim Belcher, Vice President of Technology & Production at Universal Music Group, said in a statement.

The new Hi-Res Music Station follows the recent installation of high-res headphone displays at MDC stores which feature compatible models from Sony and other companies.

"There is no more transcendent experience in music than hearing the full depth and richness of a recording as the artist heard it in the studio," Craig Kallman, Chairman & CEO of Atlantic Records, said in a statement.

"As a long-time audiophile, I've been championing the quest to create a great sonic experience in the digital world, and I'm thrilled to say that moment has arrived. Best Buy's Magnolia Design Centers will be a great tool to raise fan awareness of how great digital music can sound."

Each Hi-Res Music Station will include a variety of clips from both new and classic recordings across every genre, in addition to offering information on accessing hi-res digital files from participating music providers.

Select Magnolia Design Center locations will also be used to promote numerous hi-res activities, as well as album artwork, launch parties and receptions.
