Kevin Feige Talks About Future Marvel Plans; Will There Be A Gay Character In The MCU?

Kevin Feige has been considered to be one of Marvel's most popular director as of late, providing numerous interviews about the films under Marvel that he has directed.

Recently, Slash Films was able to conduct a very short interview with the director. He was asked whether the public is going to see a gay character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or not. The question came fromthe recent news about the ruling that allows members of the LGBT community to get married in the United States.

"The answer is, there is no reason why that can't happen any time soon," he said. "You know, we pull the characters from the comics, for the most part, and they've been forging new ground for decades in the comics."

"They've been very progressive in the comics," Kevin Feige added about Marvel. "And even more recently in a very important and progressive way. And we keep track of all of those things and are inspired by all of those things, so I'd love it to find an organic, meaningful and natural way for that to happen at some point in the not so distant future."

After his statement was released, fans have been supporting the director's answer. One fan posted on the comments section of the original article cited above and expressed his support.

"I'd love to see a character come out like it's a big deal, and every other character is like, 'So what? The world is filled with ice men, magnetic dudes, giant purple aliens, green rage monsters, etc., and you're worried about being gay?,'" User Kyle Hale wrote. "'Being gay is the LEAST different you could be in our world.'"

As to where the anticipated gay character is set to appear in the movies lined up under the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Kevin Feige has yet to decide on.
