Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata Dead At 55; Cause Of Death Determined As Fans Mourn Loss

Nintendo's Chief Executive Officer and President, Satoru Iwata has been announced to be dead at 55, Reuters reported.

According to the report, Iwata passed away because of a complication that stemmed from a growth in his bile duct. He previously had the growth removed June of last year. After which he resumed his position in the company and went back to work last October. The source wrote that Iwata expressed his feelings about the surgery he previously underwent. He said that he was feeling healthy despite losing a lot of weight.

After his death was announced, fans of the games produced by the company went to their online social media accounts to express their grief. Now that Satoru has passed away, current Nintendo managing directors Genyo Takeda and Shigeru Miyamoto are set to take over the company.

Before Satoru Iwata was announced to be dead, the 55-year-old was known to the public to have resisted the move to smartphone games. However, at the latest news conference held recently, he announced the big move and also reiterated that the move would help the company double its sales. 

It was also previously reported that Nintendo has been experiencing a dip in its sales from its traditional consoles for the past years. 

As known to the public, Nintendo is responsible for numerous games that went highly popular during the late 80s and the early 90s. These games include Super Mario Bros, Tetris, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda and etcetera.

According to fans, Satoru Iwata being dead has officially marked a new age in the company and the anticipation for the next releases have grown even more, regardless of whether they may be games or consoles.
