Jimmy Fallon's finger injury has been making the headlines as of late.

This is after the talk show host went on air for his show and talked about how he went absent for quite some time. He explained that it was bacause of an injury that almost caused him his finger. The whole incident happened in his own house.

As reported by Variety, the comedian tripped on a rug that according to him was his wife's favorite. When he stood up, his finger was facing the side, something that was not normal to look at. He quickly rushed himself to the hospital where the attendants said that the incident caused him to experience "ring avulsion," an anomaly that happens when one's ring gets caught up and drags the rest of one's finger upwards.

"It completely looks fake," said the comedian of the finger when he first saw it after falling down. "Like a cheap horror movie where you see a broken finger. It looks like that."

After diagnosis, he was rushed to another hospital to get micro surgery for his finger injury by a doctor who Jimmy Fallon explained, was in a bowtie and a pair of cowboy boots.

"Apparently, the odds aren't great and usually they cut your finger off, but this guy did microsurgery for over six hours and had to take a vein out of my foot," the host recalled. "This is the craziest story - I was knocked out and didn't know any of this."

He also revealed that he was in the Intensive Care Unit for ten days after the surgery, to which the audience gasped.

To add to the story, Fallon told the audience that experiencing the whole thing made him realize how much he feels that he is destined to be on television.

"I was watching TV and I was reading this meaning of life thing, and I think this is the meaning of my life," he said. "I belong on TV and I should be talking to people who are watching, who are either in an ICU or wherever you are, at home, or if anyone's suffering at all - this is my job. I'm here to make you laugh."
