Michael Vick Dog Training? After Infamous Dog Fighting Conviction, Eagles QB Trains Pet Puppy At NJ PetSmart

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has been seen training his dog at a New Jersey area PetSmart store.

It is interesting that Michael Vick is training his dog, as he served almost two years in prison on charges related to illegal dog fighting.

Now, he is training his dog Angel, a Belgian Malinois, at a NJ PetSmart.

The blog Crossing Broad received an anonymous tip, and posted several photographs of Vick and his dog.

The source claimed that Vick regularly visits the store and has signed up for six training classes on Monday evenings.

Since Vick ended his prison sentence, he has tried to regain his respectable NFL reputation and career. His stint in Philadelphia has helped him get back on track.

Last fall, Vick released a statement acknowledging that he is again a dog owner. He became allowed to own a dog again after his probation ended in the summer of 2012.

Although some commend Vick for training his dog, others question that he should be allowed to own a dog at all.

Vick issued a statement last fall on the topic, saying:

"I understand the strong emotions by some people about our family's decision to care for a pet. As a father, it is important to make sure my children develop a healthy relationship with animals."

"I want to ensure that my children establish a loving bond and treat all of God's creatures with kindness and respect. Our pet is well cared for and loved as a member of our family."

"This is an opportunity to break the cycle. To that end, I will continue to honor my commitment to animal welfare and be an instrument of positive change."

However irresponsible Vick may have been in the past, irresponsible pet owners don't spend time and money to ensure their dogs learn obedience.

Vick will reportedly be staying with the Philadelphia Eagles as quarterback for at least one more season.
