Los Angeles Lakers News: Kobe Bryant Ready To Pass Torch To D’Angelo Russell And Julius Randle?

The Lakers are now entering a new era as prodigious young talents like D'Angelo Russell and Julius Randle are expected to be huge next season.

But, fans know that the team's Alpha Dog, Kobe Bryant, is expected not to hand over the keys quite yet.

According to Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak, Bryant will do whatever it takes to win. Although it was a pretty vague statement, Bryant is known best for taking over games that result mostly to victory.

"He'll do what's best for the team. He knows his body and what he's capable of. He understands the situation."

The same sentiment was shared by a league exec: "I really don't see him changing," said a Western Conference exec. "He's done it his way for 19 years; why would he change now?"

Should Kobe decide to spearhead this team one last time, Russell said he is more than ready to take notes from the future Hall-of-Famer.

"I'm excited to work with Kobe," said Russell. "I might be star-struck at first, but I'm just going to be a sponge and soak up everything he tells me."

"I asked him to take me under his wing and be my mentor," added Russell. "I want him to show me the ins and outs of this league."

Former Laker Ed Davis also gave a testimonial to Bryant and he said that the rookies better be ready as Kobe will bring out the best in them.

"When he goes at you he's just trying to bring out your best," says recently departed forward Ed Davis. "You don't want him to see that you can't handle the challenge."

Will D'Angelo Russell and Julius Randle be able to strive to become future All-Stars? Stay tuned.
