Los Angeles Lakers Center Roy Hibbert Happy He Was Traded By Indiana Pacers

Roy Hibbert and the Indiana Pacers decided to part ways during this off-season as the Pacers saw the need to change how they approach the game. The big man was shipped to the Los Angeles Lakers and is excited to get his fresh start.

The Pacers have made it known that they are aiming to play a fast-paced brand of basketball and that would leave Hibbert as a liability on the offensive end. With that said, Vice President of basketball operations Larry Bird and head coach Frank Vogel landed one of the best run and gun players in Monta Ellis.

"Indiana president Larry Bird and head coach Frank Vogel want to play smaller and faster next season, and luring Ellis is an important part of the Pacers' plan," Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reported. "Ellis, 29, has played the past two seasons with the Dallas Mavericks, averaging 18.9 points and 4.1 assists last season."

Hibbert, meanwhile, told Indy Star that he is fine with their decision as he understand that the NBA is a big business.

"You have to embrace change," Hibbert said. "They wanted to go in a different direction. It's a business and you have to understand that."

"With key pieces being out, things didn't go as well as they should have on my end," Hibbert added. "But that's in the past."

He also told his agent that he was uneasy with his situation with Indiana and when the opportunity to play for another team presented itself, it was a no-brainer for the big man.

He is one of the new additions for the Los Angeles Lakers that includes last year's Sixth Man of the Year Lou Williams, veteran Brandon Bass, rookies D'Angelo Russell and Larry Nance Jr.

Roy Hibbert averaged 10.6 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.6 blocks last season.
