Toronto Raptors: Is 46th Pick Norman Powell The Next Great Second-Round Pick?

The Toronto Raptors got themselves a steal in 46th pick Norman Powell as the UCLA guard showcased his talent in the recently concluded NBA summer league.

At 6'4", Powell showed incredible athleticism and shooting stroke that net him 18.2 points per game for the Raptors. Watch his highlights below.

To sweeten things up for the Raptors, his offensive game is not the most well regarded part of his game but it his actually his defense that was expected to take him to the next level.

"Ever since I've been [at UCLA], I've been a lockdown defender," Powell said via CBS Sports' Sam Vecenie. "The guy who guards the best player. I always have a chip on my shoulder no matter who is in front of me. To lock them down and take them out of what they want to do. I take a lot of pride in my defense."

Fan Sided even noted that he might be able to edge out Terrence Ross if he proves to be more consistent than the athletic youngster.

"There are times when T-Ross gets lost on defense and just isn't cutting it, so there may be more opportunities for Powell to get into games than it seems at first glance. Plus, as mentioned, Casey loves playing guys who enjoy the grit and grind of the defensive side of the floor," as stated in the website.

With a 6'11 wingspan and extraordinary 40 1/2" vertical leap for his size, Powell's upside is clear to be higher among the other 45 players that went ahead of him per Bleacher Report.

Will he join the ranks of Draymond Green, Chandler Parsons, and Isaiah Thomas Jr. in the future? Stay tuned.
