LA Clippers News: Paul Pierce And Chris Paul's Veteran Leadership Enough For Team To Succeed?

Paul Pierce is in perfect position to add another championship in his list of accolades as he and the loaded LA Clippers are more than ready to prove that next year is their year.

Pierce opted out of his contract in Washington to team-up with his former coach in Boston, Doc Rivers and superstars Blake Griffin and Chris Paul. In fact, Rivers said that they were supposed to be reunited as early as last season.

"He should have been here last year too," head coach Doc Rivers said in a recent press conference courtesy of NBC Los Angeles' Michael Duarte

In that same press conference, Pierce can already see his arrival to the Clippers and he will provide the Clippers the depth they were sorely lacking last season.

"I already knew I was either going to go home and play for the Clippers or come back to Washington,'' says Pierce, who opted out of his Wizards contract to become a free agent. "So I watched the Clippers closely.''

Also, CBS Sports' Matt Moore reported that the addition of Paul Pierce's veteran leadership with Chris Paul will further improve the maturity of the ball club.

He added that both players experienced the same hardships and failures in their career when they are playing for the New Orleans Hornets (Paul) and Boston Celtics (Pierce).

"Pierce, in many ways, joins Chris Paul as a veteran like so many that helped that 2008 Celtics team he captained," Moore wrote. "Guys like Sam Cassell, P.J. Brown and others who gave Boston the experience it needed to contend."

"Paul, like Pierce then, has long carried with him the burden of having never made it to the Finals, has been spectacular for so long that the only enduring commentary on him now is about his failure to make the leap to the next step. If anyone knows the struggle for CP3, it's The Truth."

Will the addition of Pierce take them past the Western Conference Finals and eventually, take home the NBA Championship trophy next season? Stay tuned.
