Real Score On ‘Half Life 3’ Release Date; Fans Believe Game Would Never Happen

Years since Valve released the last "Half Life" game, some fans continue to believe that a "Half Life 3" release date will happen soon, which others fans believe will never going to happen in the near future.

In a recent report by Master Herald, it was believed that although 10 people are working for a possible release of the game, the slow progress of the signature Valve title wouldn't do any good for the franchise.

Every year, the game was rumored to have a release date announced at all major gaming conventions, which never really happened.

It was, however, an exhibition from Valve at the recently held Game Developers Conference that sparked the idea for some fans to believe that a "Half Life 3" release date is imminent.

In a Kotaku report, Valve recently held a virtual reality exhibit that features items and weapons seen in "Half Life." This made some fans think that they are working on the game and that it would be released soon.

However, Valve programmer Jeep Barnett revealed that the company is only using the weapons as an example for their future work, as they prepare for the VR future of gaming.

"We've said, 'Let's take some existing art and see how it fits,'" Barnett said. "So yeah, we'll grab some headcrabs, we'll grab the machine guns from Half-Life, the rocket launcher-all those different fun things-and see how they play in VR. But right now, it's a tool for exploring the different kind of game designs we want to do."

Meanwhile, in a Polygon report, game creator Gabe Newell denied any "Half Life 3" release dates and even said that it would be a "bad choice" if they push through with the game.

"The only reason we'd go back and do like a super classic kind of product is if a whole bunch of people just internally at Valve said they wanted to do it and had a reasonable explanation for why [they did]," Newell said. "But you know if you want to do another Half-Life game and you want to ignore everything we've learned in shipping Portal 2 and in shipping all the updates on the multiplayer side, that seems like a bad choice."

"So we'll keep moving forward. But that doesn't necessarily always mean what people are worried that it might mean."
