Dallas Mavericks News: Wesley Matthews Proves He’s Worth The All-Star Money

Former Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard Wesley Matthews is all geared up to begin his journey as a Dallas Maverick.

The shooting guard not only impressed Mark Cuban for his tremendous work ethic but every Dallas Mavericks fans should be pleased with how professional Matthews is.

During a press interview, Matthews was asked how he plans to get past his ACL injury and his answer was nothing short of impressive.

"I have the drive to not let this take away anything I've done," Matthews said. "It's myself. And every single year I've gotten better in this league and I pride myself on that. And I'll be damned if I let this stop me."

Matthews, for being an undrafted player, averaged spectacular numbers as he tallied 15.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals during his five year stint with Portland.

Next season, he assured Mavs fans that they will be getting a much improved version of himself.

"I'm extremely confident, and this is why I say this. One, I don't have that fear that people usually do after hurting themselves. If anything, they [doctors] are trying to pull me back, which is smart," he said.

He also addressed the whole DeAndre Jordan fiasco and he clarified that he signed with the Mavs not because the center made a commitment, but because he believes the Mavs is a championship organization.

"I came to Dallas with one intention and that's to win, and I'm excited about it," Matthews said. "With DeAndre, without DeAndre - I know this is a championship organization. The year they won it, they knocked us out. I want a ring. And I feel like we can do that here."

"But in the end, after five seasons, the feeling was not mutual. He was greeted with silence. No phone call. No text messages. The Blazers never made an offer. I was pissed off," Matthews said. "I felt disrespected."

"I was angry," Matthews said, "but I also realize that this is a business."
