Amy Schumer And Cousin Chuck Schumer's Gun Violence Speech Gets Positive Feedback; Public Reacts!

Amy Schumer and her cousin, Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer have been making the rounds on the internet as of late.

This is after the two teamed up to deliver a speech about gun violence, a topic that Amy has been dealing with greatly for the past weeks.

As known to the public, her latest movie, "Trainwreck," recently came out. In one of the theatres where the film was screened, a 59-year-old gunman entered the cinema and shot two of the moviegoers, both of which were women. The victims died shortly afterwards.

Not wasting any time, Schumer quickly went to hold a press conference to address the issue of gun violence with her cousin, Chuck Schumer. In her speech, Amy talked about how gun violence in America is becoming more common as days pass.

"No one wants to live in a country where a felon, the mentally ill or other dangerous people can get their hands on a gun with such ease," she said, as reported by the New York Post and quoted by Belfast Telegraph. "The critics scoff and say, 'Well, there's no way to stop crazy people from doing crazy things,' but they're wrong. Preventing dangerous people from getting guns is very possible, these shootings have got to stop. I don't know how else to say it."

"I'm not sure why this man chose my movie to end those two lives and injure nine others, but it was very personal for me," the 34-year-old added.

"I got about a million emails from friends telling me it could've been any movie," she shared, talking about whether she thinks the shooting had to do with the fact that it was her movie that was showing in the cinema at that time. "I'm trying to believe that, but I'm not sure."

"Women are always under great threat of violence, just statistically," the comedienne continued. "When these sort of things happen we mourn, and then we get angry, and it'll just make us fight harder. These are my first public comments on the issue of gun violence, but I promise you they will not be my last."

Amy Schumer and Chuck Schumer have both since expressed their intent to continue their advocacy against gun violence.
