Dirk Nowitzki Shares Singing Counting Crow's 'Mr. Jones' As One Of His Shooting Secrets!

Dirk Nowitzki will go down in NBA history as one of the best shooters to ever play the game. What's more impressive is he doesn't play as guard, but the league rarely saw someone who is 7-feet tall with that feathery touch.

So, fans and young kids might be wondering about his shooting techniques that brought him to elite level. Although he is not using it anymore, he said that he used to sing in-game when pressure is catching up to him.

"I got this coach of mine and his idea one time when I missed a couple pressure free throws, a while back, and he said, 'I think you're a little too tense. You're trying to focus too much. Why don't you try singing a song at the line?' And I looked at him like he was out of his mind. Then, I actually tried it sometimes and it worked," Nowitzki said via Yahoo Sports.

Then, the host asked what his go-to song is, he said that it was Counting Crow's "Mr. Jones.

"You know, I haven't done it in a few years. That was more when I was a younger player. Counting Crows, "Mr. Jones," I don't know why that song, but I love that song. I still love that song. That song always came in my mind."

For those who are not quite familiar with the song, watch the video below.

On a serious note, there is no denying that his time in Dallas is soon to end. With that said, who will replace the franchise star? In a report by Latino's Post, Chandler Parsons presents the best alternative as the next leader for the Mavericks. Although it might be a long-shot to break Dirk's record, the forward has the maturity to keep the Mavs afloat.
