San Antonio Spurs News: LaMarcus Aldridge Shares Woeful Experience During FA Period

After a roller coaster free agency this summer, the top free agent of this year, LaMarcus Aldridge says that although he is happy where he belongs right now, the whole process was so draining he doesn't want to go over it again.

In an interview with Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express News, he said that he really does not like the feeling of transferring to a new team. The forward called the whole process as "mentally draining."

"I don't like change," Aldridge said. "That's been a little bit difficult for me, trying to get used to a new city. I got lost like twice yesterday. That's not fun.

"In the end, it should be great for me. Right now, it's been tough because everything is so new."

The San Antonio Spurs were not alone in pursuing the 30-year old forward. The Los Angeles Lakers even met with him twice but to no avail, he found the Houston Rockets' pitch interesting, the Phoenix Suns were right there as well as his former team, the Portland Trail Blazers.

Talking to a lot of people and considering plenty of options are totally draining. To think where he will fit in perfectly is no easy job but Gregg Popovich ultimately made him realize that he will be the next franchise cornerstone for the Spurs.

Aldridge was also asked how he will fit in to the veteran-heavy squad.

"I see a lot of easy shots," said Aldridge, who managed to put up 19.4 ppg during his nine-year stint with the Blazers. "Pop's really good at misdirection, and the team is so unselfish that the ball moves around."

Also, in a report by Express News, teammate Danny Green is also excited to play with Aldridge as he believes the big man will make things easier for them.

"Our game is not as much Xs and Os as people think," guard Danny Green said earlier this summer. "It's just playing in the flow of the game. He's going to make it a lot easier for us."
