The release date of the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 has been a highly-anticipated event since the company unveiled earlier this year its smartphone models for 2015.

The company's new releases included the Moto X, Moto X Play and the Moto G. However, the Droid Turbo 2 was nowhere in sight, reported the Ecumenical News.

But it seems that the long wait of consumers might be over, as Motorola revealed that more smartphones were bound for the US shores later this year.

And based on details that have started to surface online, there is a strong possibility that the Droid Motorola Droid Turbo 2 will hit the display shelves within the next few weeks.

A leaked image of Costco's inventory of upcoming devices included a "Turbo 2" which in all probability could be Motorola Droid Turbo 2.

Another leaked image by HelloMotoHK showed the back cover of what seemed like the Motorola Droid Turbo2, which closely resembled the company's smartphone offerings for 2015.

Many are in fact anticipating that the Motorola Droid Turbo 2's release date will coincide with the anniversary of its precursor.

The Droid Turbo was unveiled last September 2014 and released it by the end of October.

Motorola just might decide to follow the same timeline.

Details are however scarce as to the Droid Turbo 2's specifications, although based on the outstanding performance of its predecessor, the latest version is expected to impress as well.

Aside from the high-end Droid Turbo 2, the phone maker might also decide to release its mid-range Droid Turbo Maxx 2 anytime soon.

Meanwhile, industry experts are anticipating that the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 will outperform its earlier version, according to Christian Today.

The Droid Turbo featured a 5.2-inch Quad-HD display, a powerful quad-core processor with 3GB of RAM, a 20.7 megapixel camera, and a 3,900 mAh battery.

If the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 can top these features, the phone's release date will be marked on every mobile enthusiast's calendar.
