Blake Griffin, Dirk Nowitzki And LeBron James Wants NBA Season To Be Cut Down To 66 Games

Some NBA Superstars have expressed their desire to shorten the NBA season from 82 games to 66.

Apparently, the best basketball player of this generation LeBron James, is one of the top advocates of this proposition. Also, he is not alone in this campaign as Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki and LA Clippers forward Blake Griffin suggested the same set-up.

"No. It's not the minutes, it's the games," James said last year via ESPN. "The minutes doesn't mean anything. We can play 50-minute games if we had to. It's just the games. We all as players think it's too many games. In our season, 82 games is a lot. But it's not the minutes. Taking away minutes from the game is not going to shorten the game at all."

Blake Griffin seconded James' statement and his emphasis is the possible injuries a long season can inflict to other players.

"Sixty-six, spread over the same amount of time," Griffin referring to his preferred season length via CBS Sports' Ken Berger reports. "Fatigue and injuries ... if you have less games, less back-to-backs, the product's better. The fans will appreciate it more. You see those college guys playing so hard, but they play 36 games in the same amount of time we play 82 almost. I just think it would be a better product."

Lastly, Dirk Nowitzki suggested the 66-game season because for the Hall of Famer, it does not take 82 games to determine who the real contenders are.

"I think you don't need 82 games to determine the best eight in each conference," Nowitzki said Wednesday. "That could be done a lot quicker, but I always understand that it's about money, and every missed game means missed money for both parties, for the league, for the owners, for the players."
