Latest Motorola Droid Turbo 2 Specs Leaked; Experts Urge Handset Maker To Innovate

Motorola certainly knows how to build up excitement for the upcoming release of its Droid Turbo 2 model.

It was only last week when news came out that the smartphone would be equipped with an "unbreakable" display, Phandroid reported.

Aside from this bit of news - which was leaked online - the handset maker has been quite mum over the features of its high-end phone.

However, going by last year's model, the Droid Turbo 2 may get a couple of hardware upgrades in order to make it stand out from Motorola's current device portfolio.

And now, more concrete details on the smartphone are coming out.

The handset is being referred to as the Motorola Bounce, which is said to be the internal "codename" for the Droid Turbo 2.

Quoting a Twitter post by @upleaks, Phandroid said the phone is equipped with 5.43-inch QHD "Shatterproof" display, a Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 processor, 32GB/64GB internal storage options, 3GB RAM, 21MP/5MP cameras, and a 3,760mAh battery.

Based on @upleaks's leaked mockup of the unit, it's back side appears to be more X Play than X Style.

The phone's sides also appear to be completely straight and don't seem to taper off near the corners similar to X Play and X Style.

Some think that the Motorola Droid Turbo 2's sides may in fact be some kind of thick rubber for added protection hence its codename "Bounce."

Another interesting feature of the phone is its sensor placement, with a few located along the bottom bezel where a speaker is supposed to be located.

Whereas the original Droid Turbo had capacitive buttons on the bottom bezel, the latest model seems to be equipped with on-screen keys.

@upleaks disclosed that the phone may be launched by December of this year.

Meanwhile, industry experts point out that Motorola needs to innovate in order to guarantee the success of its Droid Turbo 2, according to Phone Arena.

Among the things that the handset company needs to work on Is the phone's front-facing speaker.

Another suggested upgrade for the handset is for it to contain an IP certification which proves that it is water-resistant (i.e., can be submerged in a bowl of water).

Moreover, the Motorola Turbo 2 must not only be easily recognizable as a Droid, but more importantly, as a smartphone that will make Motorola Droid Turbo owners drool and convince them to make the upgrade.
