iPhone 6S To Be Renamed iPhone 7: Release Date Rumors

A small advertising company named 6S has launched a marketing campaign aimed at Apple.

The firm is urging the tech giant to reconsider changing the name of its upcoming iPhone 6S and 6S Plus models to the iPhone 7, given that it affects the company's own marketing efforts.

"Dear Universe, please call in the iPhone 7," reads a billboard posted by the company in Times Square, BGR reports.

While rumors on social media are suggesting that Apple may consider changing the phone's model name, others are certain the iPhone producer may hold strong on their branding.

Release date orders for the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are reported to begin on Sept. 11, leaked information from a French mobile phone carrier confirms.

Although the leak only confirms pre-orders for the highly-anticipated devices in France, they are also expected to be made available in the United States, given that pre-orders in both countries tend to coincide on the same date.

Forbes suggests that Apple is expected to reveal both models at an event on Sept. 9, make pre-orders available on Sept. 11 and launch official sales for the mobile devices on Sept. 18.

Earlier reports suggested that Apple is likely to release the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus on Sept. 25. This was attributed to the company's tradition of releasing iPhones on Fridays, especially toward the end of the month of September.

T-Mobile has announced a new promotional offer for Apple users.

The United States-base mobile carrier is allowing customers to exchange their iPhone 6 for Apple's new iPhone 6S free of charge, Business Insider reports.

"When you order your upgrade during the first 48 hours it's available, we'll give your order priority and ship it first, along with others who qualify for priority access.," T-Mobile officials wrote in an announcement promoting the deal.

"So you'll be among the very first to get your brand new phone when we have inventory."
