Full HD Display Is Acer Predator 8 Tablet’s Selling Point; Nvidia Shield Better In Some Specs?

With the gamers being its target market, the Acer Predator 8 tablet's strongest selling point must be its full HD display.

In his assessment, Dragan Petric of Tablet PC Review revealed that the gadget's 283 pixel-per-inch density could be a perfect come-on for the gaming population.

"Its 283 pixel-per-inch density is perfectly solid for playing games on Android, and it provides a very good experience through its exceptional color saturation and powerful brightness," Petric commented about the display of the Acer Predator 8 tablet.

"Of course, such colors are not pleasant for regular tablet usage, and the Predator 8 has an application that reduces them to a reasonable level of saturation," he added.

In terms of physical features, the tech reviewer noted that its aluminum body can be considered "aggressive" especially with its "particular look" that includes the four speakers at the edges of the front surface covered in red perforations.

Compared to Nvidia Shield, Petric pointed out that the Acer Predator 8 tablet has "more elegant dimensions" and it is also lighter than its direct competitor. However, it could still be regarded as "massive for an eight-inch tablet, weighing 0.77 pounds and measuring 0.34 inches thick."

When it comes to its internal specs, the Nvidia Shield got the vote.

"In terms of internals, the Acer Predator 8 has an Intel Atom X7 processor, which seems underwhelming compared to the Nvidia Shield's Tegra K1 processor," Petric disclosed.

But despite this, this particular product of Acer boasts of specs that help run games smoothly.

"With Intel's eighth-generation HD graphic chip, 2GB of RAM and 32 or 64GB of internal storage, the games we tested on the Predator 8 at IFA ran without any problems or disruptions to the gaming experience," he stated. "However, they were slightly slow to set up."

Meanwhile, the maker of Acer Predator 8 tablet announced on its website that it delivers "monstrous sounds."

Its front surface features "super-thin bezels and powerful Predator Quadio speakers are ready for serious gaming" while the back portion has "oft-touch grip pads and a hyper-aggressive design make you stand out from the competition."

According to the Tablet PC Review, the Acer Predator 8 tablet will be available at $300 for the 32GB variant. The gaming gadget is expected to be launched in Europe in October and selling will jumpstart in the US by Nov. 6.
