Users Find Google Hangouts 4.0 For Android Disappointing; Google Team Slow In Addressing It?

Several Android users of Google Hangouts 4.0 have experienced difficulty in launching the app, a scenario that is reportedly considered worse than the previously reported MMS bug.

In a report by Android Police, it was learned that although users can still receive and respond to messages, "you just can't launch the app yourself."

"You all have multiple Google accounts on your device, and one of them is a Google Apps account that doesn't have Hangouts activated, "Rita El Khoury noted in her review.

"Apparently, Hangouts 4.0 won't launch unless it can sign in to all of your accounts, even if it technically can't," she added.

The site claimed that the Google team has already been informed about it since Aug. 13. However, there is no "official word" yet from them relative to this Google Hangouts 4.0 issue being experienced by Android users.

With this problem at hand, various users aired their sentiments.

"I suppose that wouldn't hurt, but it's not like Google hasn't been receiving this criticism from every outlet already," commented Codemonkey85. "I think they're aware of what people think, but they're still going to keep on doing what they do."

"Google is missing the boat (again) on mobile/social by not updating their applications," shared Wayne Schulz. "Hangouts is not a bad solution but please don't leave it half finished."

Another user exclaimed that Google must consider these observations when they develop the next versions of Hangouts for Android.

"Hope they learn from their mistake and rewrite the app for v5," wrote Roh_Mish.

Meanwhile, amid these negative reviews about the instant messaging service, Boosh Articles reported that the location sharing option of the app's newest version is a notable update.

The site noted that this new feature of Google Hangouts for Android is "a real time-saver that recognizes readily what is being asked and offers the option to share location instantly during the conversation."
