iPhone 6S, 6S Plus Release Date Update: Pre-Orders ‘On Pace To Beat’ Last Year’s Record

Apple has announced that pre-orders for the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are "on pace to beat" last year's record.

Approximately 10 million pre-orders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices were made in 2014.

"As many customers noticed, the online demand for iPhone 6s Plus has been exceptionally strong and exceeded our own forecasts for the preorder period," Apple officials wrote in a statement, according to MacRumors

"We are working to catch up as quickly as we can, and we will have iPhone 6s Plus as well as iPhone 6s units available at Apple retail stores when they open next Friday."

Pre-orders for the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus began last Saturday at midnight.

A small advertising company named 6S has launched a marketing campaign aimed at Apple. The firm is urging the tech giant to reconsider changing the name of its upcoming iPhone 6S and 6S Plus models to the iPhone 7, given that it affects the company's own marketing efforts.

"Dear Universe, please call in the iPhone 7," reads a billboard posted by the company in Times Square, BGR reports.

While rumors on social media are suggesting that Apple may consider changing the phone's model name, others are certain the iPhone producer may hold strong on their branding.

T-Mobile has announced a new promotional offer for Apple users.

The United States-base mobile carrier is allowing customers to exchange their iPhone 6 for Apple's new iPhone 6S free of charge, Business Insider reports.

"When you order your upgrade during the first 48 hours it's available, we'll give your order priority and ship it first, along with others who qualify for priority access.," T-Mobile officials wrote in an announcement promoting the deal.

"So you'll be among the very first to get your brand new phone when we have inventory."
