Microsoft Send App To Rival Other Messaging Applications? App Now Boasts Of New Features

In a bid to capture a bigger share of the mobile market, Microsoft Send app will now be available for Android smartphones.

The new app, which is part messenger and part email, however, requires users to first have an Office 365 subscription, reported Gadgets 360.

The release of Microsoft's Send app is seen as the company's entry into the messenger and apps space, which allows users to instantly communicate with each other.

Taking cognizance of the way users communicate with each on the net, the application lets people send quick messages without having to include a subject-line, greeting or signature.

This feature reduces the amount of time users spend on logging on to their emails, which has inadvertently become a barrier to more fluid and effective communication.

"Imagine you're walking into a big presentation and someone asks you to find out if your colleague will be attending. Chances are, you don't have your colleague's phone number, but you will probably have their email address - especially if you've been emailing with them recently," the Microsoft's Outlook team said in its description of Send,

"You don't have time to search your inbox, start a new thread, or even type out a subject line. You just want to ask that person, 'Will you be at the presentation?'" the Outlook Team's description added.

The Send app was created by Microsoft Garage, a project inside Microsoft where its employees are encouraged to work on out-of-the-box ideas, including the development of apps even if they are aimed at rival platforms.

With the convenience that Send has provided to users, the Microsoft app has found its way to universities and workplaces, while also becoming popular with companies that have a mobile workforce, according to Tech Times.

This development has led Microsoft to expand the application's regional availability. So far, the app is now available to users from the United States, Canada, U.K., Denmark and Brazil.

Microsoft has also added some features to the app which include the option for users to share their location and make phone calls, deleting conversations and adding more people to group conversations.

Moreover, direct messages to any member of a group conversation can now be made with the Send Microsoft app.
