Anthony Bennett And Minnesota Timberwolves Nearing Buyout; Is He Officially The Worst 1st Pick In History?

Is it the beginning of the end for 2013 first overall pick, Anthony Bennett? It looks like the Canadian forward is soon to be on his way out of the league after just two seasons.

According to Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski, the Canadian prospect should be given another chance as he might be able to contribute more given more playing time.

"Bennett, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft to the Cleveland Cavaliers, is on track to be remembered as one of the all-time draft busts in league history," Wojnarowski wrote. "Nevertheless, no one beyond the Cavaliers front office had Bennett pegged as a top-10 pick in that draft - never mind No. 1 overall."

Also, a report from Bleacher Report also states that Bennett is just 22 and he will probably get another shot from another team in the league should the T-Wolves buyout his contract.

"But some team should give him a shot. Bennett is just 22 and entering his third NBA season, and while he's never going to be a star it is possible he could develop into a solid rotation player. He's shown flashes of quality play before-2014 Summer League, for example-but he hasn't been able to sustain that into the NBA regular season. "

"He also hasn't been healthy until recently, which impacted is conditioning (one of the bigger issues surrounding Bennett)... Bennett is athletic, long, and can run the floor, but all of his skill still need polishing. In the right developmental setting, maybe he can step up his game."

Bennett was dealt to the Wolves along with fellow Canadian Andrew Wiggins for All-Star forward, Kevin Love.

What do you think Timberwolves fans, should the management cut their ties to the struggling forward? Sound off in the comments section below.
