'Tokyo Ghoul' Season 1 Special Collector's Edition Blu-Ray/DVD Delayed Due To Defects

Anime fans are known to be some of the most dedicated, and often will show their dedication by collecting as much merchandise as they can.

It's nice to know that Funimation is one of those companies that makes sure that fans will always get what they spent their hard earned cash on.

Funimation recently revealed that they would unfortunately have to delay the release of their "Tokyo Ghoul" season one collector's edition because the product held physical defects. There's currently no news as to when the fixed edition will ship, but Funimation assured fans that their orders would still be fulfilled.

"In the process of manufacturing the Season 1 Collector's Edition, we found some physical defects in the finished product that we just couldn't accept. This does mean that the Collector's Edition will be delayed, but these issues will NOT affect the Standard or Limited Edition," said a Funimation representative on their official blog.

As for what the exact defect was is uncertain, but fans in an ANN forum appear to be happy that Funimation is still planning to honor those who pre-ordered the special collector's edition.

For those who may have missed the initial announcement, the "Tokyo Ghoul" Blu-ray and DVD combo includes the first season of the series on both Blu-ray and DVD, a fabric poster, a 60-page art book, a 40-page blank journal, and four art cards.

Unfortunately, all of the Collector's Editions of "Tokyo Ghoul" are sold out. However, the season one limited edition and standard edition are still available to purchase.

Funimation, who streamed the second series, "Tokyo Ghoul: Root A," outside of Japan earlier this year, describes "Tokyo Ghoul" as follows:

"In modern day Tokyo, society lives in fear of Ghouls: mysterious creatures who look exactly like humans -- yet hunger insatiably for their flesh. None of this matters to Ken Kaneki, a bookish and ordinary young man, until a dark and violent encounter turns him into the first ever Ghoul-human half breed."

It goes on:

"Trapped between two worlds, Ken must survive the violent conflicts of warring Ghoul factions, while attempting to learn more about Ghoul society, his newfound powers, and the fine line between man and monster."
